Lookout Plant Maintenance

12 students from Hurunui College assisted the club with caring for the native trees and shrubs they helped plant last year bordering the track up to the Balmoral Lookout. The drought has affected the survival rate of the plantings, but many were still growing, and the students assisted with clearing around the plants and applying a mulch of wool crutchings and dags to keep them growing. They did a great job, and the club is very appreciative of their assistance.
The plants will continue to require nurturing to see them through this dry period into the future
