Doctors Hills 4WD

On Sunday 3rd April our club, along with Amuri Lions, ran our 4WD event over the Waipara Valley – Doctors Hills region. The participants (109 vehicles) were treated to travelling in spectacular country not normally seen by the general public, aided by perfect weather.
The trail starting from Weka Pass, led down to the depths of the limestone formations surrounding the Waipara River, to the height of the Doctors Hills at 800m, then down again to the Masons Flat area to finish at the Moa swamp in Pyramid valley where scientist Richard Holdaway gave a very interesting talk on the moa and pre-human ecology of the region.
We greatly appreciate the generosity of the farmers over whose land we travelled to allow us access to this region, and the good standard of the tracks enabled everyone to really enjoy the experience.
The revenue gained from this event will be donated back to the communities in our region, and and many who participated in the event found it to be an informative and enjoyable trip.
